Bananas growing Not everyone has seen how a banana grows and so I thought I would share this with you. Sorry about the wire! You can see the first bunch just appearing, under the curly folds are more bunches forming. If the birds can keep their thieving beaks off them, I shall post more photos as growth progresses. Not everyone has seen how a banana grows and so I thought I would share this with you. Sorry about the wire! You can see the first bunch just appearing, under the curly folds are more bunches forming. If the birds can keep their thieving beaks off them, I shall post more photos as growth progresses.

  1. In Costa Rica I saw people bagging growing bananas in plastic bags. It creates somewhat of a micro climate that increases their speed of growth. Posted 12 years ago

"Musa acuminata" is a species of wild banana native to Southeast Asia. It is the progenitor of modern edible bananas, along with "Musa balbisiana". First cultivated by humans around 8000 years ago it is one of the earliest examples of domesticated plants.
