Nodding trillium is a white-flowered trillium, and is called "nodding" because the flowers nod (hang downwards), and are often concealed by the leaves.

    1. Yes! And, some kind of white fuzz near the top, which could be a bug or else maybe cottonwood fluff. I didn't notice either while taking the photo though. It was so dark in this forest. Posted 4 years ago

''Trillium cernuum'' is a species of ''Trillium'' native to northeastern North America, from Newfoundland west to southern Saskatchewan, and south to northern Virginia and Iowa. It occurs on rich, moist soils in both broadleaf and coniferous woodland.
