Blotched-winged Honeysuckle Sawfly (Zaraea fasciata)
I was 'this' close to dismissing what I'd seen out of the corner of my eye as a large fly (you can see why) but an alarm bell made me turn back for a second look.
And I'm so pleased I did. I was able to grab a few precious seconds with this striking, uncommon Sawfly.
It's not the kind of species you forget.
Luckily, I'll have this short video to remind me:
