Waved Light Fly (Pyrgota undata) Large fly (nearly 4 cm) in a mixed forest understory. From what I&#039;m reading, members of this fly family are endoparasitoids on scarab beetles. They pursue scarabs in flight and lay eggs beneath their elytra. Larvae eventually hatch out and consume their host and repeat this life cycle.<br />
