Chorthippus albomarginatus hiding on dead leaf During the peak of summer, this grasshopper was trying to camouflage itself by mimicking the only dead leaf in the area. I am not 100% sure about the identification, as many male grasshoppers look very much alike and require physical examination for determination. ''Chorthippus albomarginatus'', the lesser marsh grasshopper, is a common grasshopper of European grassland both damp-marshy and dry, including salt-marsh and coastal habitats.
