  1. Peru's only lowland tapaculo, it took me three days to see that bugger! When I first saw it, I didn't recognize its song, and the first time I caught a glimpse, I didn't even recognize what it was! A remarkably shy species, the key to seeing that terrestrial little skulker is staking out a fallen trunk within its territory, and then waiting until it walks across it! Posted 4 years ago

The rusty-belted tapaculo, ''Liosceles thoracicus'', is a species of bird in the family Rhinocryptidae. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
