  1. I think my mom brought it to our neighborhood. She had her car parked on the east side for a while. Did not notice these beetles until after my mom brought the car back. They like hot weather. Posted 4 years ago

"Cyclocephala lurida", the southern masked chafer, is a species of beetle in the family Scarabaeidae which is native to the southeastern United States. It is a brown beetle with a black head, with an adult length of 10 to 14 mm.
