Marmalade Hoverfly in mid air (macro) Check this one out in HD mode. This is a macro of a hover fly in mid air. I was photographing something else entirely when this hoverfly starting floating around my head, hovering almost still in intervals of a few seconds as they usually do. I awaited for his mid air pauzes a few times and each time I snapped as many as I could, using flash to keep a fast shutter speed. It took only 50 tries or so to get one really sharp. 1. Wow, this is awesome! I've tried several times to shoot one in mid air, but no luck so far...
    Did you use autofocus?

    1. Thanks! Yes, I did use auto focus. Keep trying, I had many out of focus photos as well, it requires luck mostly. Posted 12 years ago
