
Flat-head Leafhopper -female (Stenocotis depressa)
An attractive long-legged 15 mm leafhopper with a broad triangular head and brown eyes. The whole insect was brown with thin scalloped patterns in a darker shade of brown.
Spotted on a smooth trunk of a gum tree at a rest stop along the Hume Highway- Chowne.
The flathead leafhopper is monotypical, being the only member of its genus. It is a well camouflaged insect and widespread throughout Australia.
