
Brown Ringlet (Hypocysta metirius)
A brown butterfly with a large bright orange comma shaped pattern on each hind wing. Each hind wing also showed a black eyespot with a thin orange rim and a thin orange line along the trailing margins.
Spottted in regenerated land with casuarina trees and other natives, beside a lagoon - Narabeen Lagoon, NSW.

"Hypocysta metirius", the common brown ringlet, is a species of butterfly of the family Nymphalidae. It is found along the east coast of Australia, including Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
