''Cryptocephalus quadruplex'' is a species of case-bearing leaf beetle in the family Chrysomelidae. It is found in North America.
Case-bearing leaf beetles are named so because the larvae construct protective cases from their fecal matter and sometimes plant debris.

I think my obsession is the product of a combination of things:
1) I really love sumac trees.. I have always been drawn to them, and I was so excited when I saw them popping up in our yard (I had actually planned to plant them almost exactly where they are growing, but they just started growing on their own right after we moved here). The now (fairly) big tree in my yard was just a baby when we first moved here, and it reminds me of my walks with Charlie.
2) Me being ill and weak has forced me to stick to observing in my own yard. If I'm feeling really dizzy, I can just focus on my sumac trees for 5 or 10 minutes and then go back inside! Posted 4 years ago
