  1. Despite its name, this was one of the lowland antbirds I saw the least often in Peru. But one day I finally lucked out and found a very cooperative pair right by the path! See the female:

The common scale-backed antbird is a species of passerine bird in the antbird family, Thamnophilidae. It is found in the Amazon of Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela.
