Paramecium caudatum are very common unicellular protists and can be found in marine, brackish, and freshwater environments. They feed on bacteria and small eukaryotic cells, such as yeast and algae.  <br />

    1. Yes, they do! I tried to get photos of live specimens on a wet mount slide, but they were so blurry. So, this is a photo of paramecium stained and fixed on a slide. Posted 4 years ago

''Paramecium caudatum'' is a species of unicellular protist in the phylum Ciliophora. They can reach 0.33 mm in length and are covered with minute hair-like organelles called cilia. The cilia are used in locomotion and feeding. The species is very common, and widespread in marine, brackish and freshwater environments.
