  3. Rigo was the most gentle giant. The out pouring of emotion around the time was a very sombre time in the Zoo. From keepers, staff and general public show how much Rigo meant to us all. Even to his family group. Posted 9 years ago

The western lowland gorilla is one of two subspecies of the western gorilla that lives in montane, primary, and secondary forests and lowland swamps in central Africa in Angola, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. It is the gorilla usually found in zoos. Adult male gorillas are prone to cardiomyopathy, a degenerative heart disease.
