Subcoccinella vigintiquatuorpunctata - Hogging the lady It&#039;s that time of the year again ... <br />
Would have tagged this one as &quot;Copula&quot;, but truth told there wasn&#039;t much of that going on really - more like the dude was keeping the lady &#039;occupied&#039; or some such. 24-spot Ladybird,24-spot ladybird,Coccinellidae,Coleoptera,Epilachninae,Jane's garden,Subcoccinella,Subcoccinella vigintiquatuorpunctata,nl: Vierentwintigstippelig lieveheersbeestje Click/tap to enlarge

Subcoccinella vigintiquatuorpunctata - Hogging the lady

It's that time of the year again ...
Would have tagged this one as "Copula", but truth told there wasn't much of that going on really - more like the dude was keeping the lady 'occupied' or some such.

''Subcoccinella vigintiquatuorpunctata'' is a beetle in the family Coccinellidae. It is the only member of the genus ''Subcoccinella''. It has the typical, almost semi-spherical, ladybird shape and is patterned with spots. However it differs from many of the well-known ladybirds in being neither smooth and shiny nor an eater of aphids: the wing-cases look velvety and it eats fungal moulds on plants.
