
Textured emerald moth
The adult moths of this species are varied in their colours, from an earthy grey to rich deep green, with a complex pattern of zigzag lines. The margin of each hindwing is scalloped.
The moths are on the wing from November through to April in both rural and suburban situations.
Male 40 mm wingspan.
I notice my other sighting of this species is almost the same month, but 4 years previously.

''Hypodoxa bryophylla'', the green looper moth, is a moth of the family Geometridae. The species was first described by Gilbert M. Goldfinch in 1929. It is found in the Australian states of Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
The wingspan is about 30 mm. Adults are green, with reddish-brown markings, and black zigzag lines across each wing.
