The false garden mantid is a member of family Mantidae, which includes almost 75% of our praying mantids here in Australia. This species can be seen in urban gardens, woodlands and forests in Queensland and New South Wales.
Adult female, 60 mm body length

The false garden mantis is a species of praying mantis in the family Mantidae, and was first described in 1860 by Carl Stål as "Mantis albofimbriata". Females reach 70 mm while males reach 50 mm.
