Purpletop vervain Native to South America, now a very widespread species that is particularly common here in the eastern parts of Australia. Seen roadside and in other situations such as pastures, grasslands, open woodlands, disturbed sites and waste areas. It is a registered weed in the States of Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and the ACT.<br />

"Verbena bonariensis" is a member of the verbena family cultivated as a flowering annual or herbaceous perennial plant. It is native to tropical South America where it grows throughout most of the warm regions, from Colombia and Brazil to Argentina and Chile.
