Common Pond skater (Gerris lacustris) When I filmed the video which accompanies this photograph, the Pond Skater was my primary subject.<br />

However, I witnessed something far for exciting than I could ever have imagined.<br />
<br />
It turns out the video captures behaviour from the Pond Skater&#039;s intended victim that was something only observed and researched in any detail, in a laboratory setting, in 2015 and which has rarely been filmed in the wild. <br />

    1. It throws out some silk, uses its leg as a sail, and the silk as a brake!

      I was asked earlier today to send the video to one of the Researchers who did the 2015 study, which is rather cool.

      (Is that a trumpet I hear?)
