2. And I Quote: "Wow, this is breathing spider!" Great shot of Shelob! Posted 12 years ago
  3. What was your post processing of this one? Looks like classic film this one, wow. Posted 12 years ago
    1. Thanks for the compliments, Ludo. For post processing this one I used Color Effec Pro, filter "cross processing". That filter has about 20 tones to chose from, don't remember which one I selected :) In this case the filter did not make the photo that much different, it's only slightly more blue/grey than the original. 4. Hey, look at the video and how they carry their offspring in a later stage of pregnancy. Never saw that before. Posted 12 years ago
    1. I first saw that about a week ago, and was amazed as well. Actually, Joost showed me:

Spotted wolf spider with spiderlings Wolf spider with small offspring on it's back. When they are small the spiderlings ride along with their mom for about a week till their first moult. A rare example of a parent taking care of it's young in the insect world.
Dutch name: Tuinwolfspin (Pardosa amentata)
Might be the Blacktail wolfspider (Pardosa lugubris) instead. Geotagged,Pardosa amentata,Spotted wolf spider,The Netherlands

"Trochosa ruricola" is a wolf spider whose common name is Rustic wolf spider. The females are 15 millimeters but can reach 25 millimeters, and the males are 10 millimeters. Both sexes are dark brown and has a pale band that runs down to the carapace and continues to the abdomen. Their habitat is in grassland, woodland, scrub, and lawns that are in Asia, Europe, and North America. The spider hunts on the ground and often gets caught in pitfall traps.
