Mitrula elegans, Swamp Beacon
I have never heard of a plant or fungus being referred to as gregarious but this fungus definitely is! It was growing in a swamp next to another inhabitant of the swamp Western Skunk Cabbage. These are not quite as clean as I would have wished. The dirt is a result of a recent downpour that splashed the mud up onto the fungus.
