Yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella)
I dread to think how many miles I've walked the Sussex countryside over the years hoping to see the Yellowhammer.
But somehow they always eluded me.... until today.
I still couldn't get as close as I would like to have done. It's important not to disturb them too much.
But boy it was worth it, even with a forceful, bitterly cold wind for which I was ill prepared.
See how I got on here:

The Yellowhammer is a passerine bird in the bunting family Emberizidae. It is common in all sorts of open areas with some scrub or trees and form small flocks in winter.

Although I must be honest, and say it was pure luck on this occasion.

It's been a long wait!
I'll be heading back there in due course, on a warmer day, hopefully. Posted 4 years ago
