Water rail - Rallus aquaticus
Very secretive and shy bird. It is almost not shown outside the reeds and lake vegetation. At the slightest movement around, it immediately hides back. I was ambushed for about 3 hours in cold and nasty weather, until it appeared for a few seconds. I could barely make a few shots. I am happy, its a new species for me and a second one for 2021.

The Water Rail is a bird of the rail family which breeds in well-vegetated wetlands across Europe, Asia and North Africa. Northern and eastern populations are migratory, but this species is a permanent resident in the warmer parts of its breeding range.
