Winter visitor Bramblings are one of the most beautiful European birds. Here in Slovenia they are mostly winter visitors - sometimes in large flocks in hundreds of thousand birds - I only experienced this once. But individuals or smaller groups are quite common and easy to photograph on bird feeders. This one is standing on our Christmas tree that I put out in the garden after NY holidays:) Brambling,Fringilla montifringilla,Geotagged,Slovenia Click/tap to enlarge PromotedCountry intro

  1. One gem after the other, keep up the great work, Luka! Posted 4 years ago
  2. Because the guide books used to show just the summer plumage, I couldn't figure out what these were in winter when I first came to Germany. I eventually did and they remain one of my favorite birds - winter visitors from Scandinavia! Posted 4 years ago
    1. They are such a lovely birds! And what makes them even more special is the large congregations when they migrate from severe winters in the north. This year, the winter was too mild and there was plenty of food in nature so I haven't seen a single brambling. Until next year then... Posted 4 years ago
