  1. An very unusual sighting of this bird normally tighly associated with lowland wetlands, and here we found a pair of them at nearly 1000 meters above sea level, far from any body of water, eating in Cecropia trees! Posted 4 years ago, modified 4 years ago

      1. Could have been young birds, which are usually the most likely to stray from normal habitats, maybe we just caught them in the middle of some small scale migration, from one side of the hills to the other. Posted 4 years ago

The oriole blackbird is a species of bird in the family Icteridae. Its genus, ''Gymnomystax'', is monotypic. It is a medium-sized yellow and black bird found in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela, where its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical moist shrubland, subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland, and swamps.
