Amethyst Sunbird A surprise visitor to my garden this afternoon, I had never seen one of these before although it is quite common in many sub-Saharan African countries.<br />

A surprise visitor to my garden this afternoon, I had never seen one of these before although it is quite common in many sub-Saharan African countries.
I hadn't planned on taking photos today but an all day power cut, a cold house and lots of sunshine outside persuaded me otherwise, so glad!

The Amethyst Sunbird is a species of bird in the Nectariniidae family. It is found in Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Gabon, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
