Liriope in morning light
Liriope is a genus of strappy evergreen perennial plants. Despite the delicate beauty and tiny size of the flowers, these are incredibly tough and hardy and will grow very happily in a wide range of soil and environmental conditions. Seen here growing in my garden.
Native to East Asia, they are an understory plant in China, Japan and Korea. Growing to around 40 cm in height.
''Liriope muscari'' is a species of low, herbaceous flowering plants from East Asia. Common names in English include big blue lilyturf, lilyturf, border grass, and monkey grass. It is a perennial with grass-like evergreen foliage and lilac-purple flowers which produce single-seeded berries on a spike in the fall. It is invasive to North America and considered a threat to native wildlife.
