          Thank you, yes. There is the same vegetation at altitude and at a lower latitude than in northern England, but they've maintained many of the flowers that we've lost - some like the eryngium need a dryer climate than here so it is is different but a lot of the flora appears to have been taken over by the horticulturalists e.g. the Linum, Colchicum, Linaria, Digitalis, Prunella, Dianthus & the aforementioned Eryngium. When I've been trying to identify flowers, as you say, there appears to be sparse reporting (except alpine garden society reports) and only a relatively small internet knowledge pool, as all the "oxygen of knowledge" appears to have been sucked up by the garden varieties and hybrids. ''Geranium sanguineum'', commonly called bloody cranesbill or bloody geranium, is a species of hardy flowering herbaceous perennial plant in the genus ''Geranium'', Geraniaceae family. It is also the county flower of Northumberland and equally the county's affiliated ship, HMS Northumberland.
