Common Buzzard (Buteo Buteo) I had already filmed four Common Buzzards in the Sussex sky, when walking through some woods I spotted this beauty perched in a tree.
I managed to creep slowly closer without disturbing it, to get this photograph before it flew to another copse.
I patiently kept both my eye and camera on it and was rewarded when it flew back towards and past me almost at head height, all captured on video:
Common Buzzard (Buteo Buteo)

  1. Whoa, you were exactly in the right place. Great panning action too! Posted 4 years ago

It was one of those "I've finished for the day" walk back to the bike moments, when I saw it.

Once it flew to the opposite copse I quietly moved to a spot where I could watch it. After a while I could see it was thinking of taking off, which is why I slightly panned back in anticipation.

I just lost is as it flew into some trees to my right.

I certainly wasn't expecting it to traverse that close to the ground, but mighty glad it did!

The common buzzard is a medium-to-large bird of prey, whose range covers most of Europe and extends into Asia. It is usually resident year-round, except in the coldest parts of its range, and in the case of one subspecies.
