Cartodere bifasciata, Heesch, Netherlands Bonus visitor in the tray I used to collect arthropods from the garden. This one is max 2.2mm. It seems to have camouflage colors, a ridged abdomen, and is covered in all kinds of dust and dirt. I think I'm seeing a black collar between the head and thorax. 1. Bonjour,
I think it's not a weevil; it is more likely a Latridiidae, may be Cartodere bifasciata...

  2. Missed this one ... NICE! You did better than you think, quality wise - this one is listed as 2.2mm max., not 3mm :o) Posted 4 years ago
    1. Thanks!

I would normally call that "close enough", but at this level it's almost a 50% difference. I'm quite bad at estimating size and it doesn't help that this lens has no EXIF. I know: make notes, put a ruler in the scene, but I'm not that disciplined.

''Cartodere bifasciata'' is a species of minute brown scavenger beetles originating from Oceania but introduced to other parts of the world a long time ago and naturalized there too.
