  1. Arsipoda sp. is similar, but I can't find a match. Hmm. Tough one. Posted 4 years ago
      1. Nice work...I agree that it could be!

        1. Going by the (few) images on ALA I would rather think Arsipoda montana (as opposed to variegata):
          var: https://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:biodiversity.org.au:afd.taxon:6bb21401-d2f1-4f55-b30a-87d1e9ab60e6#gallery
          mont: https://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:biodiversity.org.au:afd.taxon:a87f6dd8-176b-4987-9c5b-0a6d3974f876#gallery

BUT (big butt), looking at the revision of the genus Arsipoda in Caledonia (D'Alessandro et al., 2016), where A. montana is described as a new species, from New Caledonia, I would half doubt any of the images on ALA to make sense ?!?!?
          https://europeanjournaloftaxonomy.eu/index.php/ejt/article/view/354/725

          Dunno what's going on here ... :-/

          P.S.

On ALA it is Arsipoda montana Oke, 1932 and the the photo of the type shows tags for male and female in the type series and location "Beechworth, Vic. C"

In D'Alessandro et al. (2016) it is a new sp. from Mt. Humboldt, New Caledonia. The key states "Female unknown", yet in the description one female is listed with the paratypes(?!)

That can't both be right ...nevertheless INPN is listing the one by D'Alessandro et al. as valid:
          https://inpn.mnhn.fr/espece/cd_nom/835515

Looks to me that at the very least Arsipoda montana D'Alessandro, Samuelson & Biondi, 2016 should be considered a junior homonym of Arsipoda montana Oke, 1932 and hence the former in need of a replacement name ...

P.P.S. *LOL* look at what GBIF is doing to it! :
          https://www.gbif.org/species/8868769
They list it as Arsipoda montana D'Alessandro, Samuelson & Biondi, 2016 and have the same images with it that are used on ALA for the Aussie beetle (including the type labels stating Beechworth, Vic.)
OMG, what a mess again *lol*

          1. I've contacted Paola D'Alessandro and some of the taxonomy websites about it...

P.S. That was quick: Paola D'Alessandro got back to me, stating that she is aware of the problem and a correction is pending.

For this here beetle photographed by Niel we can proceed and assume that the way ALA is presenting it is correct, so let's just slap the ID as Arsipoda montana Oke, 1932 on it ...
