Common Redshank (Tringa totanus)
A winter's walk along a local river estuary as the tide goes out is often a good time to see a variety of resident and visiting birds. as they take the opportunity to find any treasures the receding sea might reveal.
This was the case a couple of days ago and among a number of different species were a fair few Redshanks which is an entertaining bird to watch.
