Common Toad in my garden I just found this toad in our garden whilst trimming the grass. It seems well camouflaged from the dirt. I'm very happy with this spotting, since for some reason I have never photographed a "wild" toad before in the Netherlands. Based on its striped eye and size I am assuming this is a Bufo Bufo (common toad). Bufo bufo,Common toad,Heesch Click/tap to enlarge

The European toad is an amphibian widespread throughout Europe, with the exception of Iceland, Ireland and some Mediterranean islands. Its easterly range extends to Irkutsk in Siberia and its southerly range includes parts of northwestern Africa in the northern mountains of Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia.
