Mantled Howler Monkey (Alouatta palliata)
Sometimes, when you're prospecting for silver, you come up with gold.
Thus it was with this unexpected encounter with a Howler Monkey in the rainforest of Costa Rica.
Sounding like my outraged mother should a waiter dare serve her soup not heated to the required temperature, this has to be heard to be believed:

The mantled howler, or golden-mantled howling monkey, is a species of howler monkey, a type of New World monkey, from Central and South America. It is one of the monkey species most often seen and heard in the wild in Central America. It takes its "mantled" name from the long guard hairs on its sides.
