Juvenile European Goldfinch (Carduelis Carduelis)
The Goldfinch is a well-known and much loved finch across Europe so I thought I'd take a slightly different angle and focus on the juvenile of the species.
And I had the perfect material as a result of this little one landing not too far from me on a bright and breezy summer's day, after which I spent about an hour following it from a discreet distance as it explored and finally fed on a cluster of Thistles, its favourite.

The European goldfinch or goldfinch, is a small passerine bird in the finch family that is native to Europe, North Africa and western Asia. It has been introduced to other areas including Australia, New Zealand and Uruguay.
