I've read articles on studies here that show these are evolving at such a rate it is possible for it to be seen in action - even down to differences say in growth rates dependent on which park they were living in, physical differences between each population that lived within km of each other. It's like each of the city parks is a unique ecosystem and different to one another...a bit like what Darwin saw at the Galapagos! Posted 4 years ago

The Australian water dragon is the only species of the genus Intellagama which includes the eastern water dragon (I. l. lesueurii) and the Gippsland water dragon (I. l. howittii) subspecies. It is an arboreal agamid species native to eastern Australia from Victoria northwards to Queensland.
