Dicyrtomina saundersi is one of the small "globular" Springtails (Collembola) from the family Dicyrtomidae. Within its distribution range it is easily found in leaf litter from late fall to early spring. It can be confused with other species of Dicyrtomina, most notably with D. ornata.

But yes, of course these are cropped. The cropped "original" resolution for this one is actually something like 2112x1188, then I sometimes tweak the colours a little if needed (auto white balance is sometimes way off), then sharpen, then resize to full HD (1920x1080), then sharpen again.
I often have slightly more resolution than full HD, but not enough for 4K (by a long shot), so I settle for HD and use what little extra I have to "fake" a little sharpness as described above ;o)
What was this program again that you advised the other day for sharpening with some AI algorithms? I may want to use that for some older images that were requested to be used in a book (no "extra" resolution there to abuse for sharpening on those old shots). Posted 4 years ago, modified 4 years ago
The program is called Topaz AI Sharpen. Posted 4 years ago
