Harvested Bee (Apis mellifera) Pollen (Bee Bread)
Bee bread is a combination of pollen and nectar (or honey). The exact composition varies depending on the plants that the bees foraged from, the location, the season, and even the time of the day. Plus, the bees add secretions, bacteria, and fungi to the bread. These ingredients help break down the pollen, thus releasing amino acids and other nutrients from the pollen.
Bee bread is the main source of food for honey bees.
**I have a fairly large collection of natural curiosities and decided to share some on JungleDragon. I have been collecting bits of nature for years and also have many friends who have shared things with me. Everything in my collection was ethically collected/harvested/sourced and is cruelty-free.
