
Snake mantis
This rarely encountered mantid species is restricted to the east coast of this country. Saying that, I have now spotted three!
25 mm length
NB. As of 2019, this mantid is now in family Iridopterygidae, moved from Mantidae. My other two sightings need placing in that file as well. I have tagged them as such.

This mantis species is restricted to the East Coast of Australia, Is difficult to find due to its small size (little more than 2.5cm/1 in for an adult) and pale green coloration that closely matches the leaf color of many Eucalyptus and Angophora species where it locates.
