Snake mantis This rarely encountered mantid species is restricted to the east coast of this country. Saying that, I have now spotted three! <br />

NB. As of 2019, this mantid is now in family Iridopterygidae, moved from Mantidae. My other two sightings need placing in that file as well. I have tagged them as such. This mantis species is restricted to the East Coast of Australia, Is difficult to find due to its small size (little more than 2.5cm/1 in for an adult) and pale green coloration that closely matches the leaf color of many Eucalyptus and Angophora species where it locates.
