
Birch in trouble
Most Birch trees on the island are obviously having trouble keeping healthy in the saline winds. Probably due to them being weakened by environmental circumstances some are heavily infected with 11Witch's broom, others, like this one are shaped by the winds and this particular one was infected by various instances of the Birch polypore:
''Betula pendula'' is a species of tree in the family Betulaceae, native to Europe, though in southern Europe it is only found at higher altitudes. Its range extends into southwest Asia in the mountains of northern Turkey and the Caucasus.
