  1. Nice! Do you have many black vultures in your area? They used to be uncommon in CT, but I see them frequently now. Posted 4 years ago
    1. Thanks! There was a large group (20-30+ birds) at this area, a local lake and I do occasionally see them on road kill in this area but the majority of what I see are Turkey Vultures though. Posted 4 years ago
      1. I rarely see turkey vultures anymore. But, I see big groups of these huddled on roofs against chimneys in winter. Posted 4 years ago

The black vulture is a bird in the New World vulture family whose range extends from the southeastern United States to Peru, Central Chile and Uruguay in South America. Although a common and widespread species, it has a somewhat more restricted distribution than its compatriot, the turkey vulture, which breeds well into Canada and south to Tierra del Fuego.
