      1. They do bite humans, but you may not "stink" properly, at least not according to their preferences. There are many chemical compounds in human skin that attract different mosquito species. Plus, alcohol consumption, your metabolism, how much you sweat, skin bacteria, how hot you are (as in warm or cold), how fast/deeply you breathe, and what you've eaten all influence your particular odor from a mosquito's point of view. Even what color clothing you wear has an impact (mosquitoes tend to prefer darker colors). AND, some people don't react to the bites of certain mosquito species. So, you could have been bitten, but just didn't react to the saliva of a specific species of mosquito. No reaction = no itchy red bumps. Posted 4 years ago
