  1. A lovely high-Andean hummer, particularly fond of large Bomarea flowers and extremely aggressive, especially towards its own conspecifics.
    I was really pleased to finally get a shot that shows off the male's iridescence (a friend of mine who does a lot of wiki edits used that shot to illustrate the specie's page).

The violet-throated starfrontlet is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae. It was first described by English ornithologist John Gould in 1846. It is found in Bolivia and Peru. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forest.
