Ruddy Turnstone (Arenaria interpres) Quite often, as I take my camera for a walk along the coastline of Brighton, I come across passing migratory birds stopping off in my home town for a break, before the next stage of their journey.<br />

The Ruddy Turnstone is a small wading bird, one of two species of turnstone in the genus "Arenaria". It is now classified in the sandpiper family Scolopacidae but was formerly sometimes placed in the plover family Charadriidae.
