Arrhenia epichysium?

Tentative ID.
Growing on highly rotted (hardwood?) on a forested trail.

    1. Thanks! I was having dizzy spells, and my flash batteries decided to start acting up on me. I'm going to go back, but I don't know if our recent frigid weather has stunted/killed most of the fungi out there! Posted 4 years ago, modified 4 years ago
      1. Just speculating here, but note that f/29 takes a big toll on any battery. It does of course give you a great depth of field, so a balancing act in any case :) Posted 4 years ago

''Arrhenia epichysium'' is a species of agaric fungus in the family Hygrophoraceae. It is found in Asia, Europe, and North America. The fruit body has small brown to dark gray caps measuring 1–3 cm in diameter. The cap color changes to light gray to tan when it is dry. Gills are narrow and thin, placed together closely, and decurrently attached to the stipe. The spores are smooth and ellipsoid, measuring 6–7.5 μm.
