Green-crowned brilliant Hummingbird (Heliodoxa jacula)
If I had an image of 'Paradise' when I was growing up, I bet it never matched the beauty of Catarate del Torro Waterfall and Wildlife sanctuary.
Possibly that could be the fault of my admittedly limited imagination, but I need imagine no more.
It took us a couple of hours to walk down the steep, muddy, rain forest mountain side to the foot of the waterfall, but boy, was it worth it!
Words can't do it justice, just view the video, featuring this beautiful Hummingbird, check out the commentary, and enjoy.

The green-crowned brilliant is a large, robust hummingbird that is a resident breeder in the highlands from Costa Rica to western Ecuador. It is also known as the green-fronted brilliant, notably by the Handbook of the Birds of the World.

They can kinda side step on a branch and scratch and preen, with them, but not much more. Posted 4 years ago
