On this particular day in May, I was fortunate to find both a male and a female in the long grass of my garden, and even more fortunate to witness a little additional surprise, which you can watch towards the end of the video.<br />

  1. Wow, Philip! That's an insanely good video. Not just technically excellent, also a story with suspense. Posted 4 years ago
    1. Cheers

It's got a little hand held drift, but that's almost impossible to avoid when you're in that close.

I love the way the female suddenly notices lunch walking past, then angles round to approach from the back and side. Unfortunately she disappeared out of view with her catch so I couldn't pursue.

I have a few suspenders in the pipeline, so to speak. :-)

      1. The prey seems totally surprised, did not see her coming at all! Posted 4 years ago
        1. Given it had the ability to simply jump across the gap between them, I get the impression the spider made a deliberate detour to change the angle, so it was approached from slightly above and behind? Posted 4 years ago
          1. That is very well possible, they are known to be able to plan multiple steps ahead. Posted 4 years ago
  2. There's a second video on this cheeky little spider, with some further interesting and surprising information.
