Eurymetopus birabeni weevil Eurymetopus birabeni, a broad-nosed weevil, non-native to Australia, native to temperate South America.

Pale brown with dark brown patches. Tend to be polyphagous herbivores, found close to preferred food source - however I found this specimen trundling along a garden wall. Some of these weevils are notorious pests of major economic importance. Larvae of the group generally live in soil and feed on roots. Eggs are dropped, laid on soil under plant, but never placed in plant tissues.

10 mm in length.
1. Another case of wildlife + fine art, very well done! Posted 4 years ago
    1. I was worried the deep depth of field would lose too much detail, so glad you approve, thank you! Posted 4 years ago
      1. I assume you mean shallow depth of field? I think that looks wonderful in this case. Posted 4 years ago
