Rescued python Releasing this giant python rescued from someone&#039;s house. Quite old, about 3-4 meters long and 25-30kg. Looks a bit wounded and weak at first, but recovered and moved into the forest after getting some sunlight and water. If you are wondering how to identify the size of a python in photos, check the eyes. The smaller the eyes you see on the python means that the snake is larger, because the eyes don&#039;t change size but rather the snake head grows, making the eyes look smaller in comparison. <br />

  1. That's a very cool tip about the eyes, and wonderful work from your organization, as always!
I was wondering, will it still be able to hunt for itself after being fed for so long?

    1. Thanks Ferdy. I find the eyes quite interesting too. You can barely see the eyes in my photo but on the species cover photo on the right you can easily see the eyes. Just imagine how many times this must have been larger than the one photographed on the right.

Actually this was a wild one which wandered into someone's home when it was reported. So it is still a wild one and definitely still has its hunting instinct.

  2. Gorgeous markings and colours. Are they ticks on the top of the head? Posted 4 years ago
    1. Oh yes good eyes you've got there! There are several ticks larger than the snake's eyes itself. We wanted to remove these ticks but unfortunately there are only two of us available and the rest of our team members (especially the ones experienced with snakes) are unable to arrive due to the strict movement restrictions. If we had more guys with us then we would take the risk to remove these ticks. Ticks collected from wild animals like these do hold important data to help better understand the spread of wildlife to human diseases like the current Covid-19. Posted 4 years ago
      1. In regard disease spread, that in itself is so interesting. Much respect for your care and rescue work. Posted 4 years ago

''Python reticulatus'', also known as the reticulated python, is a species of python found in Southeast Asia. Adults can grow to 6.95 metres in length but normally grow to an average of 3-6 meters. They are the world's longest snakes and longest reptile, but are not the most heavily built.
