When imagining a mushroom, this iconic species is often what comes to mind. Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria) is a beautiful mushroom with its bright red cap adorned with while warts. It is native to the temperate and boreal habitats of the Northern Hemisphere, although it has been introduced elsewhere.

This species has psychoactive properties and is categorized as being toxic. So, it's best to just appreciate this mushroom's beauty and not eat it. {Spotted in the Netherlands by JungleDragon user, Mike van Harn} #JungleDragon #flyagaric #amanitamuscaria

Amanita muscaria is a poisonous and psychoactive basidiomycete fungus, one of many in the genus Amanita. Native throughout the temperate and boreal regions of the Northern Hemisphere, Amanita muscaria has been unintentionally introduced to many countries in the southern hemisphere, generally as a symbiont with pine plantations, and is now a true cosmopolitan species.
